Carveboard Review

After seeing this thing at all the trade shows we finally got off our lazy @#$% and tried it. I am talking about the Carveboard. Its not a skateboard, its not a thing, what it is, is Truly Amazing...

The Carveboard is a vision that Joe and Brad Gerlach decided to bring to life a few years ago. Their idea was to create a board that would simulate surfing and serve as a training aid for the sport. To our credit since all of us here at boarding.com have over 50 years of combined surfing experience (were not that old, we started young) we all agreed that the Gerlach's have definitely fulfilled their vision. The Carveboard truly offers the closest surfing experience on land. "Its like going straight from a bottom turn into a full roundhouse cutback over and over again. Even the same muscles get worked as if you were surfing or snowboarding."

It really was surprising to all of us how hard you can push on the board and not have it spin out. I am talking about full on rail to rail carves, I mean really tight turns, and fast too. Whats cool about the carve board too, is that depending upon how much tire pressure is in your wheels, that can help determine your speed and riding style. Low pressure slower deeper turns whereas, more air, faster shallower quick turns. Its cool said, Sliderzz because, "I am more of a soul boarder, I like to carve big turns and do huge roundhouses and I was able to adjust my tire pressures to my style of riding." Also curbs, rocks, twigs, neighbors toys, small pets not a problem. We would be getting crazy going to fast and accidentally launching of curbs and not even feeling them. Really the board can go over just about anything and not even slowdown. Though its best on a smooth dry surface the carveboard is designed so well it can go over grass and small obstacles with out a hitch.
