A point of convergence, with new product and market
opportunities is shaping up at the intersection of the skateboard and
snowboard industries.
The companies that capitalize on this
opportunity will lead the next wave of growth within these markets.
Flowlab® was created to be a leading innovator offering a new range
of core sport products and accessories for this new Street Carve niche.
Streets and sidewalks feel like a foot of fresh powder with Flowlab's
new Deep CarveT board. Its patented snow-wheel Deep Carve SystemT replaces
traditional wobbly bushing trucks with fixed curved steel axles, so
maneuvering comes from simple geometry, not pivoting hardware. The pleasures
of fresh powder and the agony of long lift-lines not withstanding, riding
the 42-inch plank feels remarkably like snowboarding - turning offers
less resistance for tight, fluid carves.
The 7-ply maple deck even seems to kiss the pavement as it carves to
nearly 45 degrees through the smooth transition of wheels along the
arced axle. Whether riding the front edge of the board and
sliding out the rear like snowboarding or laying back and allowing the
front to lead like surfing, the Deep Carve super-sharp turning radius
opens a world of new possibilities for creative street carving.
Aggressive inline skate wheels hold their edges through the turns. Hardened
steel axles, cast aluminum brackets, and stainless steel spacers maintain
the evenly spaced arc geometry of the wheels.
The first in a series of boards utilizing the Deep Carve System, the
Deep Carve Model DCS42 is optimized for downhill and cruising. Look
for a variety of deck lengths and materials to be introduced in the
coming year.
