The Dew Action Sports Tour News and Results by Boarding.net

The Dew Action Sports Tour previewed its second season Thursday, June surf in New York City with BMX Park and Vert athlete Dave Mirra and Olympic snowboarding gold medalist Shaun White, the winner of the 2005 Dew Action Sports Tour Panasonic Open in Skateboard Vert.

Mirra and White were interviewed by Matt Lauer on NBC's Today Show. Said Mirra, on the difference between the tour and the X Games: "What's great about the Dew Series is that it's a five-city, five-stop tour. X Games is one big hit; (you) go out there and have a good day (or) have a bad day and it's over with. We have five different stops throughout the country and you gotta be consistent. So if you can win a title at the end of the year, which is for huge prize money, it's amazing."

Later in the day, Mirra and White participated in a NBC affiliate satellite media tour. Mirra was also interviewed live on the Ron Seggi Radio Show and, on June snow, he appeared on SportsNet New York's "Daily News Live."  White had interviews on Sirius Radio, MTV's Total Request Live and the Conan O'Brien Show.

  Quotes:

Dave Mirra, BMX Vert and Park athlete: "I started thinking about the 2006 Dew Action Sports Tour in November 2005.  I did my homework early so I'd be ready for the test.  My goal heading into the second season is to stay consistent and go after the Dew Cup in BMX Park."

Shaun White, winner of the 2005 Panasonic Open in Skateboard Vert: "I'm so excited about the Dew Action Sports Tour this season.  I felt robbed last year since I couldn't make it to all the stops because of training for the Olympics.  This season I am trying to do all the stops and go for it and really be a professional skateboarder."

The Dew Action Sports Tour is the first-ever, season-long professional multi-sport tour in action sports, featuring competitions in skateboarding (park, vert), BMX (park, dirt and vert) and freestyle motocross. The Dew Action Sports Tour launches its second season June 22-25 at the Kentucky Expo Center in Louisville. NBC will air the Panasonic Open on June 24 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. EDT and June 25 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. EDT.  USA Network will air it from Midnight-1:00 a.m. EDT on June 23 and Midnight-1:00 a.m. EDT on June 24.  The five-city tour also includes stops in Denver, Portland, San Jose and Orlando.

Shaun White's first pro skateboarding win took place at the first stop of the Dew Action Sports Tour in Louisville last June.  Fans will be able to watch White, Mirra, and 260 professional action sports athletes from throughout the world compete at the Panasonic Open.  Tickets are available at Ticketmaster locations, ticketmaster.com and the Kentucky Expo Center box office.  Included in the price of admission are all competitions, the Festival Village, and Friday night's music concert, which features Hoobastank with opening act Damone.
